PSCD Fund Description

PSCD tracks a cap-weighted index of consumer staples stocks selected from the S&P SmallCap 600.

PSCD Factset Analytics Insight

PSCD focuses exclusively on the small-cap end of the consumer discretionary space. Small-caps look like one-third of the famous 9-square style box, but in fact represent less than 5% of the market. This point highlights the narrowness of PSCD's exposure. PSCD's focus is not only narrow, but deep: its reach extends into the micro-cap range, which makes up about 8% of its basket. Small wonder then that PSCD carries the 2nd highest risk in the segment, as measured by beta to the benchmark. That said, it's an interesting take that earns the fund a spot on our Opportunities list. For those who buy the premise, PSCD has reasonable fees, but can be difficult to trade.
