PSCM Fund Description

PSCM tracks an index of small-cap US basic materials firms weighted by market cap.

PSCM Factset Analytics Insight

PSCM is the only fund that focuses exclusively on small-cap basic materials companies. That decision comes with consequences. As a small-cap fund, it's more volatile than its larger brethren, and skips out on materials giants like Dow Chemical in favor of smaller firms like Buckeye Technologies and PolyOne Corp. The small-cap tilt hurts the fund in trading as well, as wider spreads on the underlying stocks pressure spreads on the ETF itself (specifically when traded in size). Combined with low daily volumes, it makes for a tough fund to enter and exit fairly. Overall, PSCM is not a bad choice for investors looking to make a bet on small-caps, as long as investors understand the risks and trade carefully.
