QAT Fund Description

QAT tracks a market-cap-weighted index of large-, mid- and small-cap Qatari companies.

QAT Factset Analytics Insight

QAT launched in late April 2014, coinciding with the effective date of MSCI's decision to reclassify Qatar from "Frontier" to "Emerging" status. This is the first ETF to focus solely on Qatar and, with a reasonable fee, it's cheaper to hold than existing funds that track multiple Middle Eastern markets. Still, trading expenses are anything but cheap (likely reflecting the underlying market) and must be considered in all-in costs. The fund delivers solid exposure to this narrow market: QAT holds just 20-something names, with a heavy weighting to the financial sector, while energy gets a small allocation as the state owns much of that sector. In sum, QAT reflects its market well, warts and all.

QAT MSCI ESG Analytics Insight

iShares MSCI Qatar ETF has an MSCI ESG Fund Rating of BB based on a score of 2.87 out of 10. The MSCI ESG Fund Rating measures the resiliency of portfolios to long-term risks and opportunities arising from environmental, social, and governance factors. ESG Fund Ratings range from best (AAA) to worst (CCC). Highly rated funds consist of companies that tend to show strong and/or improving management of financially relevant environmental, social and governance issues. These companies may be more resilient to disruptions arising from ESG events.

The fund’s Peer Rank reflects the ranking of a fund’s MSCI ESG Fund Quality Score against the scores of other funds within the same peer group, as defined by the Thomson Reuters Lipper Global Classification. iShares MSCI Qatar ETF ranks in the 7th percentile within its peer group and in the 5th percentile within the global universe of all funds covered by MSCI ESG Fund Ratings.
