RGIInvesco S&P 500 Equal Weight Industrials ETF
RGI Fund Description
RGI tracks an equal-weighted index of U.S. Industrials stocks drawn from the S&P 500.
RGI Factset Analytics Insight
RGI brings a nontraditional approach to the sector: it starts with a narrow selection universe (S&P 500) then equal-weights its holdings. For better or worse, the fund's portfolio looks surprisingly similar to our benchmark despite its unconventional approach. Unfortunately, RGI charges an above average fee and, with only minor deviations from a plain-vanilla approach, it's not clear what investors are paying for. That said, one factor that may appeal to investors is that RGI's equal-weighting approach reduces the presence of otherwise dominant industrials firms such as General Electric. The fund's equal-weighting approach cuts the fund's weighted average market cap to half the size of our benchmark. Investors should be certain they're comfortable with RGI's approach to the market and the sector deviations that result.
