SCC Factset Analytics Insight
SCC provides geared inverse (-2x) exposure to the Dow Jones US Consumer Services Index. It charges 95 bps for holding swaps on the index and the iShares US Consumer Services ETF (IYC). The index has heavy exposure to media & publishing, specialty retailers, and hotels & entertainment services companies (roughly 70% of the portfolio). In essence, the fund is a leveraged bet against US consumers’ ability and willingness to spend. The fund hasn't attracted much capital, and we see a moderate of closure. SCC is almost untradeable, making same-day round-trip trades extremely difficult and expensive. Note: SCC is a tactical tool. Due to daily compounding, it’s unlikely to achieve its stated exposure and returns for longer than a one-day period.
