SGGiPath Series B Bloomberg Sugar Subindex Total Return ETN
SGG Fund Description
SGG tracks an index of a single futures contract on sugar with varying maturity.
SGG Factset Analytics Insight
SSG tracks an index that provides exposure to sugar by rolling into a contract anywhere from two to five months out, according to a fixed schedule, and holding until shortly before expiration. This particular strategy considers the lifecycle of the sugar plant, holding longer contracts during the winter months and shorter contracts during the summer. It also allows the index to hold the most liquid sugar contracts during the year. This unique tenor strategy is a contrast to a front month strategy. SGG replaced an older ETN with the same ticker. The newer, series B note tracks the same index and avoids path dependency issues that made its predecessor more expensive to hold over time. It also includes a call provision. The new version traded under the ticker SGGB until November 16, 2018.
