SHYD
VanEck Short High Yield Muni ETFSHYD Fund Description
SHYD tracks a market value-weighted US bond index composed of high-yield municipal bonds with 1-12 years remaining in maturity.
SHYD Factset Analytics Insight
SHYD’s target of high-yield, short-duration tax-exempt municipal bonds means it holds debt with 1-12 years left to maturity. In the corporate debt space, these would be considered intermediate debt, so investors should be aware that this fund defines short-term somewhat differently from its peers. SHYD’s underlying index aims to provide a more liquid portfolio of muni bonds by targeting a weight allocation of 70% in non-investment grade, 20% in BBB- rated investment grade, and 10% in A- rated investment grade bonds. The fund uses a sampling method in tracking the index, which means it will invest in a sample of securities that collectively have an investment profile similar to that of the underlying index. Effective March 1, 2022, the fund began transitioning to a new underlying ICE index. The transition is expected to be completed on Nov. 30, 2022, and will broaden the exposure of the fund.
