USDU Fund Description

USDU is an actively managed ETF that goes long the US dollar against a basket of global currencies from developed as well as emerging markets.

USDU Factset Analytics Insight

USDU is only one of two "long-dollar" currency ETFs that provide short exposure to a basket of currencies relative to the US dollar to capitalize on a rising dollar scenario. The actively managed fund separates itself from its competitor—UUP, which goes long the US Dollar Index—by following a broad trade- and liquidity-weighted index. This means USDU is inclusive of the Australian dollar and several emerging-market currencies ignored by UUP. Overall, USDU may offer the most representative take on the long-dollar. The fund trades decently with modest spreads, and underlying liquidity is of course very strong for large investors. The fund charges a reasonable fee for a non-leveraged currency ETF. USDU uses derivatives (enters into forward currency contracts with counterparties), so deviations from spot exchange rates aren't out of the question.
