XSHQ Factset Analytics Insight
XSHQ aims to provide exposure to S&P SmallCap 600 stocks with sound fundamentals. The fund focuses on three quality screening metrics: ROE (trailing 12 month EPS/book value), a profitability metric; accruals ratio (change in net operating assets scaled by average of NOA over past 2 years), a reflection on earnings quality; and financial leverage (debt/book value of company), a way to measure financial risk. These measures are equally weighted to produce a quality score. XSHQ selects the top 120 stocks with the highest quality score for inclusion in the underlying index. We see potential for significant active risk/reward relative to the market based on this process and loose sector constraints (single-sector exposure in the underlying index is capped at 40%). XSHQ charges a reasonable fee.
