DIA Gains $1.3B in AUM Ahead of Weekend Trade Talks
- DIA inflows reached 3.5% of assets on Friday, May 9.
- ETFs added $8.5B during the cautious trading day.
The SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (DIA) pulled in $1.3 billion on Friday, increasing its assets under management to $37.8 billion according to data provided by FactSet. This inflow came as the Dow fell 119 points while investors awaited the then-upcoming U.S.-China trade discussions over the weekend.
The iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) attracted $845 million, boosting its assets by 1.4%. The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) added $678 million despite the S&P 500 inching down 0.1%, while the iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD) gained $523 million.
On the outflow side, the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) saw redemptions of $454 million. The Vanguard Intermediate-Term Corporate Bond ETF (VCIT) experienced outflows of $299 million, while the SPDR Portfolio S&P 600 Small Cap ETF (SPSM) lost $196 million.
U.S. equity led all asset classes with inflows of $4.2 billion, followed by U.S. fixed income with $1.7 billion. Overall, ETFs gained $8.5 billion in net inflows as markets took a cautious stance before the weekend's trade negotiations.
