ETF Securities, best-known for its futures-based commodity ETFs that trade in several countries, is closing down the remaining two equity ETFs it launched in January 2015. The ETFS Zacks Earnings Large-Cap U.S. Index Fund (ZLRG) and ETFS Zacks Earnings Small-Cap U.S. Index Fund (ZSML) will see their last day of trading on Jan. 23 of next year.

ETF Securities rolled out four ETFs using smart-beta strategies last year, including the two earnings-focused funds and two multifactor funds. None was able to gather any significant assets, and the Europe and U.S. multifactor funds shut down in late November.

This year has already seen a record level of fund closures, but these are the first to be announced for next year.
