Add some more closures to the more than 100 that have already occurred year-to-date in 2016. Another three funds are set to close by the end of the year.

Two were expected. The Guggenheim BulletShares 2016 Corporate Bond ETF (BSCG) and the Guggenheim BulletShares 2016 High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (BSJG) were launched with expiration dates, after all. The two funds invest in bonds that mature in the year 2016, so their closure at the end of the year, on Dec. 29, was basically a given.

However, the closure of the AdvisorShares EquityPro ETF (EPRO) was not as clear-cut. The actively managed global equity fund has about $15 million in assets under management and has been trading for almost three years. Actively managed ETFs, especially equity funds, have struggled to gain traction in the ETF market. EPRO will see its last day of trading on Oct. 21.
