ETF Week: Launches & Closures Surging

Another record year for ETF shutdowns basically guaranteed.

Based on how things wrapped up at the end of the third quarter, ETF launches and closures could both hit record levels this year. This week, however, saw 11 ETF rollouts hit the market from firms such as Innovator, Legg Mason, Goldman Sachs, Invesco and more, with a few interesting filings in the mix.

Below is a roundup of the key events in the ETF space during the week of Oct. 1:

Record-Breaking 2018?
As of the end of September, we’ve seen 132 ETF closures and more than 190 launches, guaranteeing a record-breaking year for closures and putting one in range for launches (read: ETF Launches, Closures Outpacing 2017).

Goldman Launches TIPS ETF
The new fund tracks an index created with FTSE Russell and brings the total Goldman ETFs marketed under its “Access” brand to four (read: TIPS ETF With A Twist Debuts).

Legg Mason Debuts First Bond ETF
Legg Mason rolled out its first bond ETF, an actively managed core bond fund managed by Western Asset Management (read: Active Core Bond ETF Launches).

Invesco Adds EM Dimension To BulletShares
Invesco launched four new BulletShares target-maturity ETFs that take the family in a new direction by covering emerging market debt. The four funds cover the years 2021 through 2024 (read: Emerging Market Debt ETF Family Debuts).

Innovator Launches More Buffered ETFs
Innovator ETFs rolled out another trio of ETFs offering buffered exposure to the S&P 500 Index. The funds will reset every October (read: Innovator Adds To ‘Buffer’ ETF Family).

First Trust Unveils 3rd IPO ETF
First Trust debuted its third ETF to cover initial public offerings. The fund tracks the performance of European IPOs during their first 1,000 days of trading (read: Europe IPO ETF Launches).

Newcomer LeaderShares Rolls Out Multifactor ETF
