At the 2025 etf.com Awards, Robbie Mitchnick, head of digital assets at iShares by BlackRock, discussed the success of the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which is nominated for multiple awards this year: ETF of the Year, Best New ETF and Crypto ETP of the Year. Mitchnick credited the fund’s rapid ascent—becoming the fastest ETF to reach $50 billion in assets—to BlackRock’s robust client education, clear communication of the investment thesis and years of preparation through the firm’s Aladdin platform. “We’re very proud of the way we’ve executed,” Mitchnick said, emphasizing the importance of demystifying crypto for mainstream investors.

Looking ahead, Mitchnick expressed optimism about the evolving digital asset landscape, highlighting growing demand for efficient access to crypto through ETFs. While he acknowledged the market's strong focus on Bitcoin and Ethereum, he suggested future innovation may lie more in the ETF structure than simply expanding to smaller, less mature tokens. As BlackRock continues to explore new access solutions, Mitchnick affirmed the firm’s commitment to thoughtful growth in the space.

Later that night, the iShares Bitcoin Trust won two awards, Best New ETF and Crypto ETP of the Year. Congratulations to BlackRock on the well-deserved wins and the multiple nominations for its innovative products. Another fund, the iShares U.S. Manufacturing ETF (MADE), was also nominated for the Best New ETF Ticker award.
