Jan van Eck on Actively Managed ETFs
The CEO of the asset manager VanEck talks about the surprising success of active ETFs at the etf.com Awards show in May.
Nearly every financial advisor added an actively managed exchange-traded fund to their portfolio last year, and that trend is expected to continue. More than 50 mutual funds with $65 billion in assets have already converted from mutual funds to ETFs since the first one was completed, according to etf.com data.
Jan van Eck, CEO of the asset manager Van Eck, said the success of active ETFs has been a surprising new development in the industry. “Active ETFs—and I wouldn't have said this a few years ago—have carved out a little space for themselves,” he said. “Active investing is here to stay.”
