SPY's $19.7B Tops Weekly ETF Inflows; COWZ Led Outflows
SPY's big inflows were followed by QQQ's more than $3b haul, which was followed by JGLO and USHY.
The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) generated more than $19.7 billion in net inflows, dwarfing all U.S. ETFs for the week ending Sept. 27, amid encouraging economic and inflation news that sent major stock indexes to record highs.
The tech-focused Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) hauled in more than $3 billion in inflows, the second most for the same period, according to etf.com data. The JPMorgan Global Select Equity ETF (JGLO), which manages a portfolio of stocks covering developed and emerging markets, and fixed income-focused iShares Broad USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (USHY) both added more than $900 million net inflows.
Those increases occurred as the personal consumption expenditures price index (PCE), the U.S. central bank's favored measure of price trends, rose only slightly. The tepid PCE offered the latest evidence that inflation is waning sustainably as the Federal Reserve maintained in cutting the interest rate by 50 basis points earlier this month.
The 10 asset classes covered in etf.com's weekly tables hauled in more than $3 billion in net inflows, led by international equities and international fixed income funds. U.S. equities totaled more than $5 billion in net outflows for the week, although those funds have by far the most inflows year-to-date, over $336 billion.
The Pacer U.S. Cash Cows 100 ETF (COWZ), which tracks the Russell 1000 Index, and S&P-focused Vanguard 500 Index Fund (VOO) led in weekly outflows with $4.2 billion and $3.8 billion, according to etf.com data.
