The figure reflects a holiday-shortened trading week that straddled two calendar years. While the week technically includes the start of 2026, only one trading day—Friday, January 2—falls in the new year. The remaining activity captured in the data occurred in the final days of 2025.
As a result, the $42.8 billion total is largely an extension of last year’s powerful year-end inflow surge rather than a clean read on early-2026 investor behavior.
As ETF.com reported last week, investors poured a record $1.49 trillion into U.S.-listed ETFs in 2025, capped by an all-time high monthly inflow of $225 billion in December. The latest weekly figure primarily reflects that momentum, with just a single day of 2026 included.
