It appears that investors bought the dip in ETFs.

Entering last week, the S&P 500 was sitting more than 4% off its all-time highs. By the end of the week, though, it was down just 1.5%.

All told, investors put $25.3 billion to work in U.S.-listed exchange-traded funds during the week ending Friday, Jan. 17.

Of that, $15.6 billion went into U.S. equity ETFs, $7.8 billion went into U.S. fixed-income ETFs and $2.9 billion went into international equity ETFs. Flows for other categories, meanwhile, were relatively modest.

A drop in bond yields following the release of cooler-than-expected inflation figures lent support to both stocks and bonds.

The 10-year Treasury bond yield dipped to 4.63% Friday from 4.78% at the start of the week.

The VOO Stampede Continues

In terms of individual ETFs, the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) once again topped the charts with inflows of $5.2 billion, running its 2025 inflows tally up to a whopping $13.5 billion already.

VOO was followed by the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) and the Invesco Nasdaq 100 ETF (QQQM), with inflows of $2.6 billion and $1.8 billion, respectively.

Meanwhile, the iShares iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG), the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT), and the iShares 0-3 Month Treasury Bond ETF (SGOV) were three fixed-income ETFs to make the top 10 creations list, with inflows ranging from $800 million to $1.1 billion.

SPY Sheds Assets

On the outflows side of the ledger, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) took the top spot, with redemptions of $1.7 billion.

The world’s largest ETF now has $623.5 billion in assets under management, only $23 billion more than the aforementioned VOO. At the current pace, SPY could lose its crown to VOO as soon as next month.
