EEB Fund Description

EEB tracks a cap-weighted index of securities from the BRIC economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China. The fund exclusively holds ADRs, GDR and H-shares.

EEB Factset Analytics Insight

EEB provides exposure to Brazil, Russia, India and China by holding US-listed ADRs, London-listed GDRs and Hong Kong-listed China H-shares. EEB changed its index in October 2013 to include London-listed GDRs, which significantly increased the fund's exposure to Russia. This may explain significant overweights to that country and the energy sector at times, relative to purely vanilla with ordinaries. Not surprisingly, performance has varied substantially from that of vanilla BRIC and broad EM funds. Generally, the tech, financial and energy sectors dominate the basket. The fund’s ADR/GDR approach may make it easier to transact in size, but EEB should still be traded with care. The ETF launched in 2006, and its long track record may be helpful for those trying to assess the impact of its ADR/GDR universe.
