GBUY Fund Description

GBUY tracks a market-cap weighted index of global equities related to the ongoing technology-driven transformation of the manufacturing industry.

GBUY Factset Analytics Insight

GBUY is centered around companies with exposure to the ongoing structural shifts in the consumer market due to changes in demographics, technology, and preferences. The goal of the index is “to identify and weight companies that are originating and monetizing new consumer products, as well as those creating and supporting the infrastructure to produce them”. The fund’s index is constructed from seven sub-themes: E-Commerce, Social Media, Online Gaming, Online Music and Video, Experiences Over Goods, Evolution of Education, and Health and Wellness. To select its constituent securities, the index provider uses automated semantic search algorithms to go through many datasets and documents to generate company correlations to key terms related to GBUY’s theme. The top 120 stocks receiving a score are included in the index. Weighting is a mix of market cap and the above correlation that is generated, with a minimum weight of a 0.1% and a maximum of 5%. Prior to May 15, 2020 the index provider was Motif Capital Management. Goldman announced plans to consolidate this ETF with four of their other similar "theme" ETFs (GDAT, GFIN, GDNA, GMAN). The reorganization looks to occur around November 6, 2020.
