RJN
Elements Rogers International Commodity Index-Energy TR ETNRJN Fund Description
RJN tracks a consumption-based index of energy commodities chosen by the RICI committee. It gains exposure using front-month futures contracts.
RJN Factset Analytics Insight
RJN provides exposure to six commodities in the energy space via front-month futures contracts. It weights its commodities by consumption, rather than production, so it looks like our benchmark with a few twists. For one, RJN underweights gas oil, instead overweighting natural gas. Liquidity is an issue here, as the ETN trades only around $400K on most days at very wide bid-ask spreads. Despite this, RJN has some following, with about $20M in assets. The ETN is a solid offering for those that are looking for short-term price movements—just be mindful of the entry and exit costs.
