VUSEVident Core U.S. Equity Fund
VUSE Fund Description
VUSE tracks an index of US companies that selects stocks within each sector based on valuation, governance, earnings quality, and momentum. It weights securities in a tiered structure by sector and risk.
VUSE Factset Analytics Insight
VUSE sets its sights high with a reasonable but complex set of screens which produces a portfolio that differs materially from the market. First, the fund looks for firms with high-quality leadership and governance by using accounting-related metrics and assessing corporate governance policies. Second, VUSE screens for stocks that are fairly priced based on fundamentals and momentum—a combination that might avoid the value trap. Stocks are weighted by the same suite of factors. While tight constraints keep sector exposure in line with that of the market, the fund has shown major biases to smaller firms at times. Overall, VUSE offers a decidedly non-vanilla take on the market in a viable wrapper. The index is reconstituted and rebalanced on a semi-annual basis. Note: The fund tracked a slightly different index, Vident Core U.S. Equity Index, prior to January 6, 2016.
