MFS Brings a Century of Expertise to the ETF Space
- MFS launched active ETFs, building on 100+ years of expertise.
- MFS won Best New ETF Issuer for its innovative, tax-efficient products.
At the 2025 etf.com Awards, Jamie Harrison, head of ETF capital markets at MFS Investment Management, shared insights into the firm’s recent entry into the ETF arena. Known for launching the first mutual fund over 100 years ago, MFS Investment Management is now leveraging that legacy to offer active ETFs. “We’re just as excited to launch our first suite of active ETFs,” said Harrison, noting their potential as powerful tools for tax-sensitive investors.
Harrison emphasized that market volatility has renewed investor appreciation for active management. With benefits like transparency, intraday liquidity and tax efficiency, active ETFs offer a compelling alternative to traditional passive strategies. While MFS Investment Management is currently focused on nurturing its initial five ETF offerings, Harrison hinted at future growth rooted in the firm’s long-standing investment strengths. “You’ll continue to see MFS leaning into our core capabilities,” he said.
Later that night, MFS Investment Management took home the win for Best New ETF Issuer due to its new suite of innovative products. Congratulations on the well-deserved win!
