Every now and then, an ETF launches at exactly the right time. That was the case for the Sprott Silver Miners & Physical Silver ETF (SLVR), which debuted in early 2025 just before a massive rally in silver prices sent the gray metal soaring.

But silver’s strong performance isn’t the only reason SLVR won the Best New Commodities ETF award. For one, it’s the only ETF that offers exposure to both physical silver and silver miners. Second, it focuses on pure-play silver miners, or companies that derive at least half of their revenue or assets from silver mining. That distinction matters because most silver production actually comes as a byproduct of mining other metals.

Sprott argues that this makes the fund more targeted than some competing ETFs, where holdings can be dominated by diversified miners for whom silver is only a secondary business.
