A net $19 billion was invested in U.S.-listed ETFs during the week ending Friday, Oct. 21 as the stock market continued to hover near record highs

Year-to-date inflows neared $800 billion, leaving them on track to potentially hit $1 trillion by the end of the year.

The bulk of last week’s inflows went into U.S. equity ETFs, which collected $13.6 billion of new money. The rest were spread evenly across multiple categories, like fixed income ETFs, international ETFs, currency ETFs, and commodities ETFs.

Top asset gatherers for the week included heavyweights like the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), the Vanguard 500 Index Fund (VOO), and the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI), each of which had inflows of $2.8 billion or more.

The iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) also made an appearance on the weekly top inflows list, with creations of $925 million.

The iShares Core U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF (AGG) had inflows of $583 million, the most of any fixed income ETF.

Meanwhile, on the outflows side of the ledger, the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) led all ETFs with redemptions of $1.7 billion. It was followed by the iShares iBoxx USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG) and the Vanguard Intermediate-Term Corporate Bond ETF (VCIT).

Bond ETFs have been selling off recently as traders price in fewer Fed rate cuts over the next year than they did a month ago.

The Fed’s next policy decision is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7 and is likely to include a 25 basis points reduction in the federal funds rate, according to the pricing of federal funds futures.

AGG has dropped 3.5% since reaching its 2024 high in mid-September. The ETF is up 1.9% on a total return basis since the start of the year.
