U.S.-listed ETFs continud their streak of gathering assets, as another $12.5 billion flowed into the space this week. On net, year-to-date inflows now stand at $242.7 billion, according to the latest data from FactSet. That's ahead of the $143.2 billion seen at this same time last year.

The S&P 500 hit a 5-month high this week, but ETF investors were net sellers of U.S. equities. A modest $34 million flowed out of that segment during the week ending Thursday, July 23.

International equity ETFs fared better, picking up $2.1 billion of fresh inflows. At the same time, investors continued racing into U.S. fixed income ETFs and gold.

Weekly inflows for U.S. fixed income ETFs totaled $7 billion, led by flows into the iShares iBoxx USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG), the iShares Core U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF (AGG) and the iShares iBoxx USD Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD).

AGG and LQD rallied to record highs this week, while HYG hit its loftiest level since March. The U.S. 10-year Treasury bond yield hovered just above record lows, while the 5-year Treasury yield hit all-time lows (bond prices and yields move inversely). Credit spreads continued to narrow.

Inflows For Precious Metals ETFs

Fixed income wasn't the only asset class benefiting from safe haven inflows. The SPDR Gold Trust (GLD), the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) and the iShares Gold Trust (IAU) all made the top creations list for the week as investors piled into precious metals.

Gold futures closed at a record high on Friday, while silver traded at a seven-year high
