ETF inflows may have slowed down from their torrid pace of last week, but they remained solid as investors digested two pieces of big news this week. According to FactSet, $3.7 billion in fresh money entered U.S.-listed ETFs during the week ending Thursday, Nov. 2.

Of that, only $312 million went into U.S. equity ETFs, while international equity ETFs took in a chunkier $2.3 billion.

Year-to-date inflows now stand at $388.2 billion, an annual record.

‘IDEV’ & ‘IUSB’ AUM Surge

The two standouts on the inflows list were the iShares Core MSCI International Developed Markets ETF (IDEV) and the iShares Core Total USD Bond Market ETF (IUSB).

IDEV took in a cool $617 million in new money during the week, lifting its total assets under management by more than 600%.

IUSB took in $575 million, lifting its AUM by 45%.

Meanwhile, the VelocityShares 3X Long Natural Gas ETN (UGAZ) continued to be popular among traders, picking up $256 million. Year-to-date inflows for the volatile product now stand at $1.5 billion.

Big News, Little Impact

The nomination of Fed governor Jerome Powell to be the next Fed chairman had little impact on markets this week because investors largely anticipated the news. Likewise, the unveiling of the long-awaited Republican tax plan didn't immediately move the markets, even though it was widely regarded as positive for corporations.

Nonetheless, the stock market inched to a new all-time high this week amid strong momentum. The S&P 500 was last trading around 2,588, the highest level ever, and up from 2,581 last week.

At the same time, the U.S. 10-year Treasury bond yield dipped from 2.43% to 2.34% week-over-week, while WTI oil prices jumped to a 2 1/2-year high near $56.
