Inflows Into Stock ETFs Pick Up Steam
Investors have put nearly $60 billion into U.S. equity ETFs this year.
A deluge of money poured into U.S. equity exchange-traded funds last week as investors chased the rally in U.S. stocks. On net, $28.8 billion flowed into U.S.-listed ETFs during the week ending Friday, June 16—the majority of which went into U.S. stock funds.
On a year-to-date basis, U.S. equity ETFs now have inflows of $59.8 billion, or 29% of this year’s $205.9 billion of aggregate inflows.
That’s up substantially from a month ago, when U.S. stock funds had net inflows of only $2.1 billion.
The catalyst is, of course, the stunning rally in U.S. stocks. The S&P 500 has returned 5% so far in June, bringing its 2023 gains up to 15%.
Those are the types of returns that most investors can’t ignore.
