ETF flows just barely nudged into positive territory this week. On net, U.S.-listed ETFs had inflows of $512 million during the week ending Thursday, Aug. 16, according to FactSet. That pushed year-to-date inflows up to $156.1 billion.

U.S. fixed-income and U.S. equity ETFs netted inflows, while international equity and commodity ETFs netted outflows in a week in which emerging market woes counterbalanced optimism about the U.S. economy.

‘BBCA’ Explodes On The Scene

With the S&P 500 approaching its all-time highs, the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) and the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) fared well. Each had inflows of around $1.2 billion.

But the biggest winner of the week was unquestionably the JPMorgan BetaBuilders Canada ETF (BBCA), whose $750 million worth of inflows continued the trend of blockbuster J.P.M organ launches. BBCA’s inflows come on the heels of similar success for the likes of the JPMorgan BetaBuilders Japan ETF (BBJP) and the JPMorgan BetaBuilders Europe ETF (BBEU).

J.P. Morgan has been aggressively moving its client assets from competing ETFs into its new BetaBuilders-branded products.

Meanwhile, other ETFs to see interest from investors this week included the Invesco S&P 500 Low Volatility ETF (SPLV), the ProShares Ultra S&P 500 (SSO) and the VanEck Vectors Gold Miners ETF (GDX).

On the other side of the ledger, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), the SPDR Gold Trust (GLD) and the iShares MSCI Brazil ETF (EWZ) garnered hefty outflows.
