'SLV' Powers Weekly Inflows
Year-to-date inflows now stand at $81.1 billion.
Nearly $15.6 billion flowed into U.S.-listed ETFs this week thanks to strong interest in the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO), the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) and the ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK).
In particular, SLV became the target of another Reddit-fueled pump earlier this week, but though the ETF saw hefty inflows, the price of the fund hardly budged. SLV took the No. 2 position on the weekly inflows list, with creations of $2.6 billion.
At the asset class level, international equity ETFs continued to be the hottest part of the ETF market. Those funds picked up $5.7 billion of new money collectively during the week. U.S. fixed income ETFs followed closely behind, with a pick up of $5.3 billion.
Investors continued adding to their fixed income positions despite an uptick in Treasury yields (bond prices and yields move inversely). The 30-year Treasury reached 1.99% on Friday, the highest level in about a year.
On the other hand, there wasn't a whole lot of demand for U.S. equity ETFs this week, even with the S&P 500 notching a fresh record high. That group registered inflows of $214 million during the period.
Year-to-date, U.S.-listed ETF inflows now stand at $81.1 billion, compared to $73.1 billion at this same time a year ago.
