ETF inflows for 2024 continued to barrel towards $1 trillion as investors poured money into almost every fund category last week.

On net, $16.4 billion flowed into U.S.-listed ETFs during the week ending Friday, Nov. 22, pushing year-to-date inflows up to $956 billion.

Annual inflows are in record territory, notably above the previous record of $900 billion from 2021.

VOO Tops $100 Billion

Every ETF category with the exception of inverse ETFs saw net inflows last week. U.S. equity ETFs pulled in the most ($6.3 billion), followed by leveraged ETFs ($3.1 billion), U.S. fixed income ETFs ($3 billion), and international fixed income ETFs ($2.1 billion).

The Vanguard 500 Index Fund (VOO) had the largest inflows among individual ETFs with $6.8 billion. The ETF has now seen more than $100 billion in inflows since the start of the year, making it the first ETF to ever achieve that milestone in a calendar year.

The JPMorgan Ultra-Short Income ETF (JPST) had the next-largest inflows, with $1.5 billion, followed by the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND).

The Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares (SOXL) and the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) also saw strong demand, with weekly inflows of $1.3 billion and $1.1 billion, respectively.

SPY, QQQ Lead Outflows

On the other hand, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ), and the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) topped the weekly outflows list, with redemptions of roughly $3 billion to $5 billion.

Another popular ETF, the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT), also saw outflows last week to the tune of $1.9 billion.

Bonds hovered near 2024 lows last week, but rallied on Monday after Trump announced his pick for Treasury Secretary.

The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq-100 sold off slightly from record highs last week before bouncing modestly on Monday.
