Investors scrambled out of U.S.-listed equities ETFs last week, and falling markets helped pull total assets down to $1.717 trillion.

Investors pulled more than $4.5 billion out of ETFs last week, and falling markets spurred on by uncertainty over the economic recovery in the U.S. and a slowdown in China helped lowered total U.S.-listed ETF assets.

In fact, $6.95 billion flowed out of U.S. equity strategies, while $518.7 million flowed into U.S. fixed-income ETFs in the week ended Thursday, March 27, as the S&P 500 fell some 17 points lower from the previous week to close at 1,849.04.

U.S.-listed ETF assets fell to $1.717 trillion from $1.734 trillion in the week ending March 21, according to data compiled by ETF.com Analytics.

The SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY | A-98) led all equity funds, raking in $1.2 billion last week, bringing its total assets up to $158.2 billion.

At the same, the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF (VIG | A-70) led all ETF outflows, with redemptions of $2.33 billion, bringing its assets down to $18.67 billion and making it the least popular ETF last week.
