Beyond launches last week—which included the largest ETF launch in history, from iShares—not only did Dimensional Fund Advisors clarify when it would be converting a quartet of its mutual funds into ETFs, a number of name and index changes were announced or completed, as well as some other upcoming ETF-related events.

Dimensional Fund Advisors has set a timeline for the long-anticipated conversion of four of its tax-managed mutual funds into ETFs. The four funds will make the change on or about June 11 as follows, with the ETFs listing on the NYSE Arca:

  • The T.A. U.S. Core Equity 2 Portfolio (DFTCX) will be reorganized into the Dimensional U.S. Core Equity 2 ETF.
  • The Tax-Managed U.S. Small Cap Portfolio (DFTSX) will be reorganized into the Dimensional U.S. Small Cap ETF.
  • The Tax-Managed U.S. Equity Portfolio (DTMEX) will be reorganized into the Dimensional U.S. Equity ETF.
  • The Tax-Managed U.S. Targeted Value Portfolio (DTMVX) will be reorganized into the Dimensional U.S. Targeted Value ETF.

At the start of this month, Guinness Atkinson completed the first-ever conversion of mutual funds into ETFs.

Name, Index Changes

Effective April 5, the SoFi 50 ETF (SFYF) changed its name to the SoFi Social 50 ETF.

Two funds offered by Capital Link made name and index changes, effective April 6. The Capital Link NextGen Protocol ETF (KOIN) changed its name to the Capital Link Global Fintech Leaders ETF and its index from the ATFI Global NextGen Fintech Index to the ATFI Global Fintech Leaders Index. The Capital Link NextGen Vehicles & Technology ETF (EKAR) changed its name to the Capital Link Global Green Energy Transport and Technology Leaders ETF and its index from the ATFI NextGen Transport Technology Index to the Global Green Energy Transport and Technology Leaders Index.

As of April 9, the Global X Aging Population ETF (AGNG) changed its index from the Indxx Global Longevity Thematic Index to the Indxx Aging Population Thematic Index.

And the effective date for a KraneShares ETF to change its name and index was moved from April 8 to April 28. That’s when the KraneShares E Fund China Commercial Paper ETF (KCNY) will become the KraneShares Bloomberg Barclays China Bond Inclusion Index ETF with a brand new ticker of KBND. It will also change its index from the CSI Diversified High Grade Commercial Paper Index to the Bloomberg Barclays China Inclusion Focused Bond Index.

VXX Share Split

Finally, as of April 23, the iPath Series B S&P 500 VIX Short Term Futures ETN (VXX) will undergo a 1-for-4 reverse split.
