After putting a hefty $51 billion into U.S.-listed ETFs in January, investors kept at it during the first week of Feburary, adding more than $20 billion to the space.

On net, ETFs captured $24.8 billion of inflows during the week ending Thursday, Feb. 6—a period that includes four days from February and one day from January.

Year-to-date inflows now stand at $73.1 billion, compared to a mere $53 million at this same time last year.

Buying Opportunity

For the week, U.S. equity ETFs were the most popular segment as investors used a brief 3.7% correction in the S&P 500 as an opportunity to buy. After falling to as low as 3,215 on Friday, the index quickly recovered to a new all-time high of around 3,348 on Thursday.

While the coronavirus continues to wreak havoc in China, investors don't yet consider it something that will do lasting damage to the global economy.

U.S. equity ETFs ended with net inflows of $15.1 billion for the week and $30.8 billion for the year-to-date period. Top asset gatherers during the week included the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV), the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO), and the Invesco Russell 1000 Dynamic Multifactor ETF (OMFL)

While U.S. equity ETFs are where investors focused most of their buying power, U.S. fixed income ETFs also continued to see a steady flow of demand. That segment had inflows of $5.6 billion for the week and $20.7 billion for the year-to-date period.

The iShares Broad USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (USHY) had the largest inflows of all fixed-income products during the week.
