Weekly ETF Inflows Slow To $2.3B

Flows into U.S.-listed ETFs slowed this week, but remained in positive territory. Just $2.3 billion entered the space, pushing year-to-date inflows up to $143.2 billion, keeping pace with last year’s $143.6 billion.

Most of this week’s inflows were directed at U.S. fixed income ETFs, which pulled in $3.3 billion. International equity ETFs gathered $729 million and commodity ETFs took in $413 million.

On the other hand, U.S. equity ETFs had outflows of $1.4 billion, even as U.S. stock markets hit record highs.

‘GSLC’ Assets Jump

The top flows winners of the week were the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM), the iShares iBoxx USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG) and the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV).

But on a percentage basis, the Goldman Sachs ActiveBeta U.S. Large Cap Equity ETF (GSLC) fared even better. Its nearly $600 million of inflows catapulted assets under management in the fund higher by 9.5%.

On the flip side, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) and the iShares 1-3 Year Treasury Bond ETF (SHY) topped the outflows list.
