ETFs registered modest inflows this week despite rocky financial markets. On net, $6.8 billion entered U.S.-listed ETFs during the week ending Thursday, Sept. 10, according to the latest data from FactSet. That pushed year-to-date inflows up to $296 billion, ahead of the $173.5 billion seen at this same time a year ago.

This week's inflows were relatively evenly split between U.S. equity ETFs, international equity ETFs and U.S. fixed income ETFs.

The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) was the top asset gatherer of the period, with inflows of $4.6 billion. The S&P 500 tumbled more than 7% off its all-time high this week as a sell-off in high-flying technology stocks weighed on the broader index.

Nevertheless, some traders used the pullback in tech stocks to buy. The ProShares UltraPro QQQ (TQQQ), which offers 3x leveraged exposure to the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 index, picked up $829 million of new assets, bringing the geared fund's total assets under management to $8.5 billion.

The Nasdaq-100 was last trading nearly 12% below its all-time highs set just last week; steep sell-offs in names like Apple, Amazon and Nvidia have led the index's move lower.
