ETFs Give Back Some Of Last Week’s Inflows
Weekly exchange-traded funds outflows totaled $20.2 billion.
Still, even with these reversals, weekly outflows totaled only $20.2 billion, a fraction of last week’s $71 billion haul. Year-to-date inflows now stand at $232.7 billion, more than triple the $66.8 billion seen at this same time a year ago.
Growth Stocks Sag
During the week, the S&P 500 continued to hover in a tight range around 3,900. At the same time, the 10-year Treasury bond yield backed off slightly from recent highs, with the rate last seen at 1.66% versus 1.72% a week ago.
While the broad stock market was largely range-bound, growth stocks took a beating this week. The ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) got close to its low from three weeks ago, prompting investors to pull close to $500 million out of the fund over the past three days.
On the other hand, the SDPR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) and the iShares U.S. Energy ETF (IYE) headlined the weekly inflows list, with creations of $8.8 billion, $4.3 billion and $968 million, respectively.
