The steady stream of flows into U.S.-listed ETFs continued this week. On net, $14.5 billion flowed into the space during the week ending Thursday, June 10. That was enough to push year-to-date inflows up to $417.5 billion, more than double the $179.4 billion seen at this same time a year ago.

Total U.S.-listed ETF assets under management last stood at $6.43 trillion, compared to $4.46 trillion a year ago.

Stocks & Bonds Rally

U.S. equity ETFs took in the majority of this week’s inflows—$7.5 billion—ahead of the $3.9 billion that went into international equity ETFs and the $1.3 billion that went into U.S. fixed income ETFs.

The S&P 500 hit a fresh record high on Thursday, while the benchmark 10 -year U.S. Treasury bond yield hit a three-month low near 1.43% following the release of consumer price inflation data that wasn’t as hot as some had feared.

The rally in bonds spurred some inflows into the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND); the fund had creations of $1.3 billion during the week.

On the other hand, ETF investors shunned some of the largest corporate bond funds despite the rally in their prices. The iShares iBoxx USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (HYG), the iShares iBoxx USD Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD) and the SPDR Bloomberg Barclays High Yield Bond ETF (JNK) all made appearances on the top outflows list for the week.

Real Estate ETF Hits Record High

In addition to the aforementioned BND, other popular ETFs during the week included the iShares MSCI Eurozone ETF (EZU) and the iShares U.S. Real Estate ETF (IYR).

Benefiting from the drop in bond yields, IYR was last trading close to all-time highs, about 10% above its previous peak set in 2007.

EZU was last trading at 13-year highs, though it still has a way to go before it would challenge its previous high from 2008.
